| New tracks - Manerva & Umgaia |
| A Guy Called Gerald is busy mastering and fine tuning a small mountain of club tracks that have been under rigorous testing over the past few years in his LIVE IN SESSION shows. The first two now see the light of day this month - Manerva and Umgaia. These two tracks are now what he calls "frozen". You'll understand what this means if you understand his unique method of mixing and remixing his own productions in the club LIVE IN SESSION. No track is ever played the same way as the separate sounds are mixed and manipulated live on the fly between two laptops and a DJ mixer. His recent performance at Glastonbury with Funktion One's Experimental Sound Field showcased this unique style. Opting to perform in front of the mixing desk at the back of the crowd AGCG deftly controlled the surround sound while being engulfed inside it. It was an unusual situation as the crowd danced occasionally looking up confused at the stage. But this was the point - he wanted to be inside the sound with the dancers as well as make a point of going back to the origins of dance music where the music and the dance floor was more important than the DJ. |
